The 2nd Annual Carib Style Week is happening in sunny Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and the excitement is too real.
In addition to a Caribbean Fashion Pop-Up Experience and a massive showcase at Westfield Broward, there are several dope fusion events; all featuring Caribbean designers. The schedule takes you around Ft. Lauderdale, with the fusion events happening at cool event spaces, night spots and one particularly awesome rooftop pool situation.
Luckily, the schedule also features a slew of sensational designers. Over the next few days, we’re featuring a few of them.
Here, we present a vibrant, socially-conscious Trinidadian brand…

Carib Style Week presents: Bene Caribe
You go back in time, to your dream internship. Where are you?
Mara Hoffman. Her brand is so well defined. I love her use of prints and colour. Its all so vibrant and creative. Her designs are always relevant as well.
What’s one element we’re always guaranteed to see in a Bene Caribe piece?
I was going to say Batiks, but we have some monotone pieces that we pair with Batik accessories. I’ll have to say one element is that each piece is bold. That way, if you were to wear one BC necklace or a pair of BC earrings, or a BC top, people are going to notice that piece because its boldly unique in colour, texture or shape.

What’s your favourite part about being a designer?
Getting to work with other designers and creatives. That collaborative process is so exciting to me!
What do you love about Caribbean Style?
Caribbean style (like our batiks) has a unique flair that tells the story of the passion, warmth, camaraderie, flavours, vibrancy, and rhythm of the Caribbean. Our style is so unique!
